Reborning Supplies

Everything you will need to reborn your Vinyl Kit

PLEASE NOTE:

I DO NOT SELL ANY OF THE REBORN SUPPLIES. I DO NOT SELL EYES.

I HAVE MADE THIS PAGE TO HELP YOU FIND WHAT YOU NEED.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

* Use an accurate oven thermomoter and a timer when baking the doll.
* Have your oven be exclusively for the use of Genesis paints.
* Some recommend that you use a special type of oven called a "convection oven" for heat setting Genesis paints, because it heats more uniformly and without "hot spots".
* Put your convection oven in a well-ventilated place. If you "overbake" vinyl, it will emit fumes, as any overheated vinyl will do. So be careful not to set the temperature too high, or to let it bake too long. And take suitable ventilation precautions. Even if it doesn't burn, hot vinyl fumes have the potential to be toxic.

EYES

20mm round Eyes

You will need one set of eyes:

Newborn Dark Blue Gray

Baby Brown

Newborn Deep Blue Sky

 NOTE:

I did not put eyelashes on my Asher or Emmaline dolls because thier eyes are so squinty and to keep them looking "just born";

If i was going to, I would use a sparse light colored set.

the darker you use, the older looking the baby will "appear"

EYELASHES

You will need item number:
Light Red EL17 Baby Lashes

(this is NOT a light red color...it is a very very light brown and I use this on most my dolls!!)

or

Blonde EL17 Baby Lashes

PolyPellets for weighting

Softest Fiber stuffing

I DO NOT USE THE GENESIS PAINT THINNER ABOVE ANYMORE.

Even though it is listed as odorless, it still is dangerous to those with sensitive lungs. There is a skull right on the bottle. This fluid, when heated, caused me to have trouble breathing everytime (I have asthma).

So now I use a clear NON-TOXIC Silicone Fluid called A-244 for both painting silicone dolls AND vinyl reborns (below)

you can buy it here by clicking photo of it.

It is sold at Factor2

This stuff above is a thin fluid that does not evaporate as quickly as the Mineral spirits; but it thins out the Genesis paint perfectly. I actually painted a boo boo leg, heatgunned, and then TRIED to rub the paint off and it was permantaly affixed into the vinyl. Once heated, it completely evaporated.

I know this stuff is meant to thin out silicone paint and be affixed to silicone....so I don't know the long term affects of using it with vinyl. But it seems to work perfectly. I ahve used it on all my reborn kits pon my website. And I have no other option because of my asthma.

LIP PAINT

for the lips, you can use Genesis Paints...

...or for a quick and easy (no fail color); you can buy a Gallery Glass paint at Wal-Mart

(color: Rose Quartz) for $3.00.

This is a great color for the lips. I have used this on all my clay dolls.

Paint in just 2 or 3 very thin layers.

Don't worry, the color dries much darker than it appears going on......but keep it THIN.

 HAIR

you will need to buy 1/2 ounce

Angora Kid Mohair

I only use SLUMBERLAND MOHAIR
